Burmese are so childish and immature to trust Hollywood and Americans to help them ousted their military regime.

Burmese living outside the country think they know all about governance and they want people inside to revolt. If you see these exiles living like little tamed rats in their adopted countries, it is pathetic the people inside believe in them.

We Burmese live quite free in our own country. We may not have electricity but we have our own culture and pride.

Rambo

I do not like violent movies

I do not like my country portrayed in a negative way to the world

The world must be quite civilized if Burmese soldiers are portrayed as the worst.

The drama goes on and where's the reality in the world?

President speech- State of the Union address

We are listening to President Bush's speech on radio in  the car and at home on TV.

He is talking about education, Iraq war etc.

I enjoy reading these words from its speech:

Peace and Prosperity

Rising competition in the world economy

Health and welfare of our citizens

Vigorous debates upon these causes

As Americans we belief in the power of individuals

The most reliable guide for the country is the collective wisdom of ordinary citizens

It is so enlightening to listen to the leader of the nation. He mentioned Burma as well which I was not so happy to hear my country regarded in  negative way but there is nothing much I can say.

They are bringing back 20,000 soldiers home and Iraq is improving under their guidance he said.

The homeland is more secure today....

When will we have a leader elected like this in our country , I wonder!

Basics of living

mingala sutta:

1. Do not associate with bad people

2. Associate with good people.

What kind of people you shall associate with?

Anyone who can bring goodness to you at present or future will be the person to be associated with.

The person can guide you, teach you, show you good ways in life , you have to take him as your friend or teacher or associate even if he is your enemy.

Why? because a wise person can protect himself and his friends from danger and achieve prosperity.

Thus there is no need to talk about the benefits of associating with a wise person who is not an enemy of yours.

New Communism

There have been always the communist student movements in colleges in Burma since old days.

Usually they are writers and poets. They are not shaven and not smartly dressed.

Some drop out from colleges and become artists.

With market economy it is not much of a threat these days.

Kids back home are quite practical, they want education, wealth and good life.

During 88 riots pro democracy movement, many active students had to run away to the border areas and now some of them are in US.

Today I wonder whether they have changed living among the most capitalist country

or are they in bed with the new kind of communism trying to cause uprising in Myanmar?

The change shall come from within and it shall be  a peaceful transition.

My answer to
the following from the comment of pee:

Chinese Leader Mao Se Taunge said revoluation is not child play game. You must have strong belive and desire. Some of the people joined the rebel group. Then drop the gun without asking permission from the orgainazation and left to third countries and still keep on talking to catch the elephant and tiger.Communist leader Thakin Than Tun went to jungle 1948 ,died 1967 in jungle.Thakin Zin,Thakin Chit died in action in 1975 in jungle.Read the last days of Thakin Than Tun.They scarfiecd their life that they belive.I really admire these guys but not comulism.

Dear Pee,

After reading about U Kyaw Zaw's self written biography in the following link, I understand what Communism is all about and a person's false belief in a theory which originated in Europe where there were class war fares.

http://www.cpburma.org/biography.htm

I do not admire these men clinging to the wrong belief -not born in their own country- against their own culture. They are duped by the theories and had forgotten about their environment. They tried to change, revolutionize and imagine themselves as saviors of the peasants and workers -the no haves of the world. In Burmese Buddhist world we do not have classes. We do not have to carry on surnames like the Westerners or Chinese or Indians. Anyone can become a rich man depending upon his luck and work which is Karma. No one is equal, they make their own fate or karma. Depending upon their parami ( wisdom and experience ) they all live to work and become a good citizen with compassion, love and care for other unfortunates.

How cool and natural is that?. And why these partly educated sons of the farmers of Burma brain washed by reading communist books thought they had to be different from their parents. They died fighting for their ideology because they were dumb and knew nothing better.

The military generals are better than these lefties but they are also attaching themselves to their ranks, army and nationalistic ideas. Still we need to bring illumination to their brains as well. The uneducated class of Myanmar the majority who are worshipping whoever rule them, needs to be educated as well. This is for our future before we are swamped by Chinese and Indians , which is already happening today.

Cheers,

Mayburma.

sitting in a modern hotel

I am sitting in a big city in the western world  in a big hotel. They built the hotel in 80's. Makes me remember Sedona hotel in Yangon, Burma which is now devoid of business people or even tourists.

Who barred business to develop in my country?

Why am I outside my country today instead of building my company training my young people to improve their lives?

I hate the people who stopped western investments in my country.

I started to hate the woman who I used to admire, who was given a nobel prize.

What is there for our people to sacrifice for her???

The world is not fair for us!! At ALL!!!

I hate them all!!!!

what is democracy?? what is dictatorship??

what is right??what is wrong???

business should be left alone to develop freely for the market and the people!!!!!

so lost in life!!!!!

so useless politics and politicians .. so selfish of them all...

so stupid.. overseas Burmese...

so ignorant ...

death of Heath , movie star

Death of a film star at such young age of 28 . What is happening? cannot cope with success? drugs??

what a waste of a talented person!

don't they know that life is to treasure? are they starved of real love ?

That we call unable to stand the success.

There are failures and successes which you have to deal in life.

If you are not grounded, you cannot deal with either.

Who hates Green ?

Everyone hates green

Especially when they do not stay in their place

At all ministries above the intellectuals

We all have more system and education

We all have more ethics and wisdom

When they sit above all with their peanut wisdom

Our country became LDC

Even their own people

when they shed their uniforms

They become us again

without the green as an individual

learning the reality for survival

ashamed of their past acts

When will we have the choice

Not to be bullied by a gang of greens?

people who wear 24 kinds of faces

Dear blog roaming person,

The following is my attempt to translate one poem I find in a Burmese blog of above link.
-a poem by Pho Ni from Myanmar. ( Yanant thit magazine sept 05 )

It is so difficult to translate directly so it will be only a transliteration.

The meaning of the poem is how insincere people put on different masks on their faces.

----

all kind of faces they wear

one can not have enough to face a person with so many faces

Faces people make when they want something from you

all the fine facial muscles they can master

 a blank unexpressive face

when they are hiding something

they push back their real face and put on a new face

smooth face like a ski slope

without shame if they want something from you

they can make so many faces changing on their base

they can forget about their old face

they can put on new face

they can turn away their face to their old friends

they can throw stone at your face

they can paint black soot at your face

and they will wear an innocent face

they wear a lunatic face which has a gleeful act

they wear a slippery face

which has a shameless act

they lie outright with a blank face

they smile wide showing their teeth without their heart

they change into an impassive face to act wise

they put on an obliging face for sponsors

a sweet face for bosses

a favoring face for their creditors

they spit upon small faces which represent no wealth

they smile to big faces which has cash

from one face they can proliferate so many faces

I do not have that many faces to face those faces

I can be a dreamer!

I can dream
I can feel

But I will be pragmatic

I can hate
I can swear
I can cry
I can shout

But I will be pragmatic

I can sacrifice myself
I can sacrifice others

But I will be pragmatic

Jade Shops at the PRC Burma Border

Yunan and Burma border shops on China side.
Chinese love jade and the best jadite jade is found in Northern Burma, Kachin region.

Chinese companies are given contracts by the military government at the Phakant jade mines.

The area was controlled by Kachin Liberation Army before.

After General Khin Nyunt made peace deals with them, the area has become peaceful enough for Chinese business people, KLO leaders, Army generals, Burmese business people to do businesses there.

I hope they also do not forget to take care of their tribal people and their culture.
But Kachins generally are very modern and smart and one does not need to worry about them.

Monks lining up for lunch at the biggest teaching monastery in Mandalay. Throughout the colonial days we were able to preserve our culture at this old Kingdom. This is where my parents inherit Buddhism, reading the books published from this Buddhist university, visiting monasteries and discussing dhamma with the monks.

Lower Burma, in Rangoon, the colonial Kingdom, there are more Anglo Burmese Christians, Indian , Chinese traders. It is different from Shan states and Mandalay states where the Buddhist culture is more prominent.

Today Mandalay is loosing its culture. Its business trading is very active from China and Chinese influx from the North.
There are Chinese gold shops and hotels.
Locals move out of the city to suburbs after selling their properties to Chinese.
Sadly, Mandalay is not a cultural city anymore.

Kenya in trouble

Kenya news about election and riots makes me imagine the possible future in my country.

Quotes from the link:

Kenya's media, strong and feisty, are publishing united calls for a political plan that takes the country forward. Many are calling for a government of national unity that involves both Mr. Kibaki's and Mr. Odinga's parties. In all of this, Mr. Juma and others see reasons for optimism.
"What is happening right now is a problem in a democracy that's a moving country. Even five years ago the state of economy was such that nobody felt there was a point in having a stake in it. Now there's a reason [to steal an election]," Mr. Wainaina said. "The good thing about it is that there was a time when you rigged and we'd never know, like [former dictator Daniel] arap Moi rigged in 1992. Today the country is transparent; you can rig but you can't hide it, which people of Kibaki's generation don't understand yet."
A transitional government might finally be pushed to adopt a constitution that protects minorities and devolves power, something Mr. Kibaki's government has refused to do, he said. And that could change Kenya's future.
"This is our seminal moment," he said. "Many great nations were born in violence."

An unforgettable event in our country.
a reminder for those who forgot their own culture!

It touched the heart of all Burmese Buddhists to see the monks come out on the street to show their discontent of the military government.

However it was started, the treatment of the mass movement by the military was totally unacceptable.

They were chanting metta sutta and were making a peaceful demonstration. They wanted apology for what happened to the monks in Pakokku. They wanted people not to forget the culture and religion.

Its not FAIR

Whenever I think about trade sanctions to my country, it gives me mixed emotions and I hate the world for not being fair to us normal Myanmar citizens.

Since 1997 when western embargo was imposed, I was expecting some changes on the positive side from our military leaders.

It was General Khin Nyunt who was running the show at that time.

He worked hard everyday developing the country, made peace with all ethnic groups after joining ASEAN.

Where is he today?

Whats the point if it had not shown any positive effect after all these years?

China does not give democracy to its people and the whole world is comfortable with that!

Its not fair to treat Myanmar different from other countries.

Su Kyi is wrong.
She is naive!
Burmese outside have forgotten about their people inside.
They are equally naive!
Shooting at their own feet!

Open society needs higher standard of living first.

It is just so Sad for the people inside who know nothing about what is happening to their lives.

If there is fairness to the world,

Vipekha ( what you do injustice to others will come back to you ) will happen to all involved that deny and obstruct the rights of Burmese people.

The right to join globalization, trading and make a decent living.

Basics of living

Mingala sutta

ASSOCIATION

1. Do not Associate with bad people

Who are bad people?

Those who are doing damages to peace and prosperity of the society you are in.

Those who are doing nothing fruitful in life.

You can become one of them if you associate with them.

Be brave to say No to them, Shun them.

You can think!

You may be born to Buddhist parents but you have your own brain to think whether it is suitable for you or not.

Do not inherit your religion,

Do discuss, think and accept only that makes sense to you!

This is the advice of Buddha himself,

Do not beleive blindly in what ever your elders say or

Do not beleive blindly in whatever the monks say,

Do not beleive blindly in whatever the bible says,

Do not beleive blindly in whatever people say,

accept only what makes good sense to you!

accept the things that good ethical people will accept

deny the things that any good ethical person will not accept.

Differences East and West

Having lived in Burma all my life and have travelled widely around the world, now residing in US, I have discovered about the differences between the two parts of the world. With the inquisitive mind and adventurous spirit with lots of goodwill I would like to share and communicate my findings.

Today there are conflicts in the world with the dominant and modern western ideas and the late bloomers still struggling with the new idea of western free way of thinking.

I am looking for solutions to remove negative parts and to make the world a peaceful and prosperous place for all.

The basic differences between East and West.

*The religion is different
* The weather is different
* Philosophy is different

In the west and middle east, Churches and Mosques have control over public in the past or at present. They had to seperate the church and the state.

In Asia ,Buddhist monks have no control over people ( except in Tibet )
The Kings pay respect to the religious leaders and his subjects were treated kindly from the cultured King.

The monasteries and monks offer refuge to people who face difficulties, who look for peace, who would like to escape from the never ending needs for success and survival in daily life.
They can anytime join the religious orders and live peacefully under the principals of Buddha.
The monasteries will be supported by the public.

I have learnt that Christians are born with sin.
Buddhists are lucky to be born as a human being.
This is the only life that can achieve Nirvana free from all attachment and sufferings from it.

In the world history, there were crusade wars among Abraham religions.
These religions are organized and religion was used to create power and
for power people killed each other.

Buddhism did not have war.
Buddha stayed away from power and the wrath of the Kings.
He told the monks that Kings are like serpents and to stay away from them.
He could only offer peace to any lost souls on earth, laymen or Kings.
Buddhism was started in India but ousted by Islamic Kings.

People are more organized and they group together in other religions, they act together.
They meet regularly at churches and mosques.
Buddhists do not need to go to any church regularly.
Like Dalai Lama said, the church is in your own mind.
You can read dhamma books, discuss or listen to dhamma tapes.
The truth about life always give a person peaceful.
They discuss among themselves or at the monasteries at their own time and convenience.

Buddhists try individually to reach Nirvana.

There is no need to act together as a group.

Yet they all do their part of social work through religion by supporting the monasteries.

Buddha strictly told people not to believe anything that does not make sense.
He did not want his teachings to be exploited by anyone.
